Tenure Track Assistant Professor

The University of Salzburg invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor position in the field of database systems at the Department of Computer Sciences. The starting date is October 1, 2019.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct independent high quality research in the field of database systems; to be active in fund raising; conduct independent teaching and supervise students; to support administration and teaching activities in the field of database systems.

The advertised position is a scientific tenure track position: The initial appointment is for at most 6 years. Within the first two years, the successful candidate is expected to establish a 'qualification agreement' with the University of Salzburg, which lists the goals to be achieved to obtain tenure (within 4 years from signing the agreement). One important goal is the completion of a habilitation. If the candidate meets all goals of the agreement, her/his position will be upgraded to Associate Professor with tenure ('assoziierte/r ProfessorIn').

The minimum yearly gross salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme (A2, §49(2)) is approximately 63'000 EUR after the qualification agreement has been signed; until the agreement is signed, the yearly gross salary is approximately 53'200 EUR (B1, §49(3)).

About Salzburg: Salzburg, located in Austria at the foothills of the Alps, is well known for its rich cultural heritage and world famous music, its romantic scenery, and the popular skiing areas and hiking paths in the surroundings. Salzburg is only 1.5 hours away from Munich and 2.5 hours from Vienna with frequent train connections.

Prerequisites for application:

International postdoc experience, successful fund raising, teaching experience, and social skills (team spirit, leadership competence, determination, creativity, resilience) are a plus.
